Candidates for admission to the first year of the Degree of M.A. Tamil shall be required to have passed

B.A. Degree Examination of the Madras University with Branch XII- Tamil as the main subject of study or

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

Candidates for admission to the first year of the Postgraduate Degree programme of English shall be required to have passed
1. B.A. Degree Examination of the Madras University with Branch XII- English as the main subject of study or

2. B.A. or B.Sc. Degree Examinations with part II English or
3. An examination of other Universities accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for M.A. Degree Examination of this University in this branch in the affiliated colleges/ departments of this University.

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

Candidates for admission to the first year of the Degree of M.A. Economics and M.A .Business Economics course shall be required to have passed B.A. Economics, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Statistics/ B.Com,/B.B.A/ B.B.M/B.Com (C.S) or any under graduate degree in social sciences conducted by the University of Madras or an Examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of the University of Madras.

DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

Candidates for admission to the first year of the Degree of M.A. History course shall be required to have passed the B. A. History Examinations conducted by the University of Madras or an Examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of the University of Madras.

DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY PG & RESEARCH

B.Sc., Zoology (or) B.Sc., Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

1. B.Sc Degree Examination with Chemistry as the major subject of study of University of Madras or Equivalent examination of some other university accepted by the syndicate.
2. The candidate should have taken Mathematics and Physics as the allied subjects in their UG course.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

A Commerce graduate (B.Com) with any specialisation and a graduate in Business Administration (B.B.A) are eligible for admission

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION – PG PROGRAMMES

1. M A Human Rights and Duties Education

Candidates for admission to M.A Human Rights and Duties Education should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from the University of Madras or some other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent.

2. M.Sc Plant Biology And Plant Biotechnology

Candidate for admission to the first year of the degree of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology courses should be required to have passed B. Sc Botany / Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology course of study for a period of not less than three academic years, passed the examination of all six semester prescribed.

3. M. A. Journalism and Communication

A Candidate for admission to M.A. Journalism and Communication should have Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from University of Madras or some other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent. The applicant who has passed examinations conducted by any other university / foreign university other than University of Madras should submit an eligibility certificate from University of Madras

4. M.Sc. Applied Microbiology

B.Sc. Degree in Microbiology/ Zoology/Botany/ Biotechnology

5. M.Sc Food and Nutrition

Candidates for admission to the first year of the Degree of M.Sc Food and Nutrition course shall be required to have passed the B.Sc Nutrition, FSM and Dietetics/Home science/Food science and Management/Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from any recognized University.

6. M.Sc Mathematics

Candidates for admission to the first year of the degree of M.Sc course should have Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics of University of Madras or some other University accepted by syndicate as equivalent.

7. M.Sc Biochemistry

Candidates for admission to the first year of the P.G Biochemistry degree course should have passed B.Sc examinations conducted by the University of Madras or other recognized universities with any of the following subjects as major – Biochemistry, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology & other Life Sciences.

8. M.Com (BIM)

A candidate who has passed the B.Com, B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship), B.Com (Accounting and Finance), B.Com.( Marketing Management) , B.Com (Bank Management), B.Com (any specialization) B.B.A.,.B.A Business Economics or
B.A.Economics, B.Sc. (Statistics.), B.Sc.(Maths), B.Sc.(Comp. Sci) with any two core/main papers offered at theB.Com shall be eligible for admission to M.Com (Banking and Insurance Management) Degree Program.

Degree examination of this University or an examination of some other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto subject to such conditions as may be permitted to appear and qualify for M.Com. Banking and Insurance Management Degree Examination.

9. M.Com

A Commerce graduate (B.Com) with any specialisation and a graduate inBusiness Administration (B.B.A) are eligible for admission.

10. M.Sc Physics

Candidates for admission to the first year of the Degree of M.Sc. Physics course shall be required to have passed the B.Sc. Physics or equivalent degree of any Indian Universities.

11. M.Com Corporate Secretaryship

Candidates for admission to the first year of Post Graduate program of Corporate Secretaryship program shall be required to have passed B.Com degree with any specialisation/ B.B.A. degree of University of Madras or any other University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

12. M.A Human Resources Management

Candidates for admission to the first year of the degree of M.A. course should have Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Arts/Commerce/Business/Engineering/Medicine/Paramedical) from University of Madras or some other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent.

13.M.Sc Applied Psychology

Candidates for admission to the first year of the M.Sc Applied Psychology degree course shall be required to have passed B.Sc examinations conducted by the University of Madras or an examination accepted as equivalent there to by the syndicate of the University of Madras with Psychology as a major subject or one of the 2 or 3 major subjects.

14. M.A. English:

Candidates for admission to the first year of the Postgraduate Degree programme of English shall be required to have passed

Candidate for admission to the first year of the degree M.Sc Computer Science shall be required to have passed the B.Sc Computer Science/B.Sc Information Technology/BCA from any recognized Unversity.
