      ABOUT US

      About the Department

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1948, offering Mathematics as an ancillary subject to the students of other disciplines. In 1980, it became a major Department. In 1989, another batch was started in Self Supporting Stream to meet the increasing demand for the subject and in 1994, Post Graduate status was acquired. The students have secured many university ranks consecutively right from the inception of the Department. M.Phil. Course was introduced in 2005.Currently the Department has eighteen faculty members of whom eight are Doctorates. The Undergraduate and Postgraduate curriculum offers the right blend of Mathematics, Statistics and Programming courses, which inculcates the students, a passion towards the subject, sharpens their coding skills and thus enhances their employability prospects. The Department of Mathematics serves with the dynamic mission to achieve excellence in teaching. Our goal is to make sure that students have a diverse and strong foundation in Mathematics and to motivate them towards further studies/ Research. In relevant to the current academic standards, the Department offers programmes with comprehensive combination of subjects. Many of our alumnae are pursuing higher studies in various prestigious institutions/ Universities and are placed in reputed organizations across the globe.

      VISION

      • To turn out intellectually enlightened and socially committed graduates and post graduates who will be equipped to face challenges in life and will be sensitive to the needs of the society and contribute to its welfare.
      • To kindle interest in Mathematics and to inspire and motivate the students to have a thirst for higher learning.

      MISSION

             To develop in students

      • Excellence in Academics
      • Creativity in problem solving
      • Analytical thinking
      • Diligence in work
