Biochemistry is the chemical essence of life whose boundary encompasses all aspects of Biology. It forms the basis of inter-disciplinary subjects like Molecular Biology, Immunology, Endocrinology, Computational Biology, and Biotechnology.

The Department of Biochemistry was started as an undergraduate department in the year 1997 and within a decade of its inception, it bloomed into a postgraduate department and forges ahead with committed 11 faculty members, 2 lab technicians, and 2 attenders.

The department offers a fine blend of core courses with interesting laboratory sessions. Both UG and PG laboratories are well equipped with state of art technology appropriate for practical sessions and project. To constantly encourage the students in refining their knowledge the department offers various certificate courses and summer projects.

Taking the frontiers of education beyond books the department through its association exposes the students to workshops, guest lectures, and interactive sessions. The department also aims to widen the students’ knowledge on career prospects awaiting them. Many of the alumni from the department are placed in research labs both in India and abroad.

• Our Department students have participated in and won many prizes in inter- collegiate and intra- collegiate events.
• Students are offered more application cum practical oriented subjects in their curriculum to develop their programming skills.
• The Department conducts its annual Association meets “REPLICA” to enhance the leadership skill, communication, presentation, programming, debugging, creative thinking, adaptability, critical thinking, and personal skills of the students.
